Inherent in this concept is the need to address all factors of environmental degradation simultaneously. The three biggest inter-related environmental problems are overconsumption, overpopulation, and the broken, corporate based political system that has turned even many of our local elected representatives into nasty political prostitutes. The writings in this section address all three of these phenomenons. Some of this content may be "controversial" or "unreasonable", but then again, as George Bernard Shaw once put it, "All progress depends on not being reasonable." The environmental movement in America today tends to be politically motivated and therefore reductionist in nature. To sum it up bluntly, there is a lot more to achieving true sustainability than recycling your aluminum cans, driving a Prius, and voting for Democrats instead of Republicans.
